bastards

I haven't updated for a bit. Here's what's going on in my shop lately.

As you may remember I am building my 99 prelude sh. I was in the middle of replacing a head gasket and while the head was off of the car I thought I would go ahead and strip it down to take in for an inspection.

While it was sitting there, the shop was thoroughly burglarized and one if the stolen items was my head, valves, cams, intake, etc etc etc. The list is so huge that I am having difficulty identifying everything that is missing.  I'm not kidding, the rollaway toolboxes, full of everything including many specialty pullers and compressors.  Enough for my shop life and car project to come pretty much to a screeching halt. Everything my husband and I had spent ten years together collecting and adding to our hobby time space. He of course has his own list of devastation.

So against the best efforts of the losers who obviously have no respect for earning a living, the mess is subsiding and the tools and equipment are getting replaced. The project will commence. I just ordered a new head. ( stock ) :(  but one has to have a place to start. It is just going to be a more extensive project than I had anticipated.

CarSponsors.com will be of great help to me through this. My goal includes many car shows in the puyallup area being on my schedule of events. And a ride worthy of entering wouldn't be bad either.

here is my baby shortly after i got it.  since then i have almost constantly been working on it.  i have survived a broken timing belt and later an exploded cam!  at the moment, i am working through a blown head gasket that i have repaired once but found that there was water in the system after putting it back together so back to it.

i also have a few great links to share with you.  one is preludepower, com the other is hondatech.com  both sites are excellent forums and i recommend them for most things honda.  there are links to manual downloads on hondatech that are free.  the good shop manuals too!

ok, so ive been building cars for a while now and have finally gotten to where i feel that i deserve a break on the cost of parts and pieces.  i have owned 14 or 15 preludes and all but one have been 3rd gen.  (88-91)  si models.  I built a 91 si w 4ws alone and it was the longest running car i ever owned in my life!  i spent countless hours under the car in the middle of the night in tears out of frustration.  i still would let no one help me because i was bound and determined to do it alone.  i did.  it took me two whole months and hundreds if not thousands of dollars just to build a stock prelude~

i remember the first time i laid eyes on a 5th gen prelude and drooled over the thought of the h22 motor.  i saved and dreamed for another two years then finally went out and bought a wrecked one for 3500.00.  it is a base model converted into an sh.  it has the sh front end and transmission so it kicks ass (when i can keep it running).  it has survived two major catastrophes since i have driven it.  one being a thrown timing belt and the next being a cam broken into three pieces.  when the cam broke, i ended up changing the head out but had intended to swap the entire motor.  the sh motor was impossible to locate without buying the transmission attached and i already had it.  the price difference was astronomical so i kept the same block and swapped heads.   i ended up getting some money back from the original head since it was only the tiniest bit damaged.

ill post some pics in the next post of some of my builds. but my reason for opening up a new blog site is to begin advertising a bit for my dreams to take shape.  i want to be a race car owner!  driver would be great but i really have always been obsessed with motors and cars and making them faster and telling racecar stories with the boys.  (i am a girl) :)  so in order to get the really good stuff, i must get other nuts like me to join up on my quest and buy their parts and tools through my links.  that is just a start.  im quite sure i can get better discounts as i have paid for a membership to do this.  you are more than welcome to join the membership as well but i find that most of us just want to get our parts when we want them and dont really  have the time to run a campaign.  fortunately i am blessed to have this time to spare at this point in my life and i would love to gain the respect of the other car buffs out there by getting great deals for everyone!
